The vessel VALOR is originally built in the Netherlands as Antje, a Dutch Lemsteraak.
2021
Commodore Adam R. Howard discovers the vessel via fellow Navy veteran Tony Dziadul. Inspired by its history and lines, Howard initiates its acquisition.
2022
Project Valor Sailing takes possession of the vessel and begins a year-long restoration in Virginia, investing over $100,000 in upgrades and disabled accessibility.
2023
The vessel is relocated to Provincetown, MA, and begins the final restorations for the centerpiece of Project Valor Sailing’s therapeutic and educational mission.
2024–2025
Sailing program expand to include veterans, disabled individuals, first responders, and community organizations. The boat will also be made available for film shoots and private events to support sustainability.
Summer 2026
The vessel will be formally commissioned as the U.S.S.V. Harvey Milk, the nation’s only LGBTQ+ ambassadorial flagship, during a gala celebration in Provincetown featuring a military flyover, dignitary remarks, and public visitation.
